EDUCATION
ANTON LACHKY
Alongside his work within his company, Anton Lachky has, throughout his career, been deeply committed to sharing his passion for dance and movement. His dedication to teaching has its roots in his beginnings with folk dance in Slovakia, where he discovered the power of collective experience. Since then, he has found constant joy in being with others and living his passion through the energy of the group.
Over the years, he has developed his own method: PUZZLE WORK, a choreographic composition technique born from extensive research and continuous exploration of movement. Through it, he has shaped a choreographic language marked by strong musicality and an exceptional level of coordination, driven by a movement architecture of remarkable complexity and velocity.
Recognized worldwide for its innovative nature, Anton Lachky’s method has made him a sought-after teacher, invited to give workshops across the globe.
PUZZLE WORK is not only the foundation of his pedagogical approach but also the basis of his artistic creations, giving his choreographic writing a unique identity and a distinctive place on the Belgian dance scene.
Driven by a deep interest in collective work, Anton Lachky fosters an atmosphere of kindness, shared energy, and collective creativity within his projects.
It is in this spirit that he conceived two training programs for pre-professional dancers: DIP, a short-term intensive program in Tournai, and ALP Dance, a one-year immersive experience in Brussels.
Each year, 33 artists from around the world are carefully selected by Anton Lachky to take part in each of these high-level programs.
DIP / Tournai
Dance Intensive Program
Founded in 2022, DIP is an intensive immersion program designed for pre-professional dancers seeking to deepen their practice and develop their creative abilities through Anton Lachky’s Puzzle Work method. The program takes place in Tournai, at the studios of Danse & Company, founded by Elisabeth Gossuin, and brings together participants from around the world, including Asia, South America, and Europe. Over the years, more than 35 different nationalities have taken part, infusing Tournai with a truly international spirit during these exceptional weeks.
Participants follow a rich curriculum, designed by Anton Lachky and taught by him alongside guest instructors. The program includes technical classes, choreographic composition, improvisation, urban dance styles, acrobatics, martial arts, rope-skipping, and yoga.
Through his open and supportive approach, Anton Lachky strives to make choreographic art accessible to all. The experience concludes with public, free performances open to the local community, sometimes held at La Maison de la Culture de Tournai, attended by the mayor, local officials, and school students. These presentations foster meaningful exchanges between dancers and the city, offering a shared artistic experience with significant cultural impact.
Whether through the company’s choreographic creations regularly presented at La Maison Culturelle de Tournai (such as ABSURDE and LES AUTRES) or through DIP, Anton Lachky maintains a strong and lasting dialogue with the local community. Beyond its pedagogical mission, DIP plays a crucial role in expanding access to contemporary dance in Wallonia. As a pioneering program in the province of Hainaut, DIP contributes to the visibility of choreographic art in Wallonia, places Tournai on the international dance map, and sustainably strengthens the region’s cultural and artistic ecosystem.
